Wow - 2003 Style I just got done reading a glacially long article all about the future of computing. Most of it focusses on Microsoft, becasue Microsoft is a large part of computing. The short version is: if you are planning on sticking with Microsoft solutions, plan on shelling out ever increasing money to do so, and watch as Microsoft ties up your documents in newer ways to make sure you can't leave them. If you say "no problem, I'll just run an old copy of their stuff" well, MS plans on killing off piracy, privacy, and access to older software in just 3 easy steps you'll hardly notice over the next few years, until one day you realise that without cutting them a big check, you no longer have access to your own work. |
